Anxiety Could Benefit from Fruits and Veggies In Your Backyard Garden
There are several natural ways to relieve anxiety, including eating more herbs for anxiety and vegetables from the garden. The nutrients – vitamins and minerals – that are found in these foods are what works physiologically in the body to affect biochemical pathways. The medicinal constituents in foods – and there are plenty of them in every single food – are what also act on every part of the body, including the brain. Thus, it behooves you to eat more fruits and vegetables.
There’s another consideration in this matter. It’s that there are some foods which are called heirloom, and these are the highest quality of foods to get seeds for, for your garden. Here’s a list of some of them:
- English Lavender – English Lavender not only has a great aroma but it also calms you down when you’re restless. Plant this in a sunny location.
- Tansy – This medicinal herb is high in potassium, which comes in handy since we live in a high sodium world of foods that are processed. However, what you want to do with this plant is add it to your compost pile instead of consume it. Tansy grows to about 3 feet tall.
- St. John’s Wort – This is a shrub with pretty yellow flowers that have anti-inflammatory and sedative in nature. This plant only grows to the height of 20 inches.
- Parsley Root – A tea made from the leaves of the parsley root acts as a natural diuretic. You can eat the roots, as they are similar to carrots. It tastes like celery. Don’t waste the leaves; put them in salads.
- Stevia Rebaudiana – Stevia is 300 times as sweet as regular sugar. It’s easy to grow as long as you keep watering it. Since it’s a rainforest plant, it loves water. Soak a few leaves in water overnight and make your own sweetener to be used in beverages, baked goods or whatever you are making.
- Artichoke – This plant needs a lot of sun and one plant spreads out to a diameter of four feet. A 12 to 20 foot row of these artichokes is probably best. Artichoke leaves should be gathered to make tea out of them. They cleanse your liver, which processes emotions. In other words, the anxiety you are feeling is a chemical that is broken down by the liver. If you eat a food that cleanses the liver, your body processes the emotion faster so you are no longer experiencing these feelings.
- Chamomile – This herb is soothing to the body. It’s easy to grow and you can feel calmed down with a cup of tea.
